At the start of the pandemic, my family moved to our country house in Connecticut. During those dreary days of isolation and restrictions, I became increasingly aware of the flight patterns of small birds. These fluttering little creatures exemplified what was missing from my life: freedom. As they moved graciously and effortlessly from branch to branch, they gave me a new outlook on life. From waking up in dread of another day of lockdown, I began my days in anticipation of capturing another glimpse of freedom. The reward of freezing these birds in flight was worth the many hours of wait, and I learned to be patient. As the population of small birds is rapidly decreasing in New England, I hope these images will allow your imagination take flight.
